Who has removed flap gap seals? How much did you loose on cruise speed, and how much did it lower stall speed? I am going to remove them tomorrow unless someone talks me out of it.
JS170BI just ordered aerodot (Loncoin II Featherweight) from AIP. They were very easy to work with once I got in touch with a sales rep. If anyone wants the name of the guy I dealt with, let me know. FYI a 4' x 8' sheet was $304 with burn cert and shipping.
Soliciting opinion on the idea of installing the Sportsman leading edge cuff on my 170B to improve the water take offs, the 170 is fitted with the original Continental and edo 2000s. Thoughts and suggestions welcomed. Thank you in advance
MaplefltThanks for the thoughts, I will likely go the Sportsman STC. As I'm in Canada we have provisions that allow the registered owner to maintain and within reason modify their own airplane. This means I can install the kit without the required STC legal requirements. Thereafter I intend to "restore" or build a set of suitable floats, fittings and rigging. Ideally I locate "original items" for this effort for airworthiness, ease and confidence in the outcome !!!!!
Jus installed a 3 blade MT on my 170A , Hartzell did a great job wanted to get rid of 100 hr AD & rpm limitation,,, was surprised that there was only 3 lbs weight difference, hopefully get all pwrk done tonite & fly it
Sorry to beat a dead horse but I have one more question. I ordered the L-19 leaf spring but the bracket that surrounds the bottom three leaves is just a hair to small to be able to pass the through bolt. Air Repair recommends bending the bolt. I guess the other option is to elongate the holes in...
True on the tires, as well as the tubes. Half the tubes are junk when you get them. I just called Air Repair for the L-19 leaf spring. Very helpful people.
Geez, I was hoping someone would say 'don't do it, it's a waste of money' and I could just move on to fixing something else. Now it looks like I have no excuse. I did call on the titanium tail spring. It is available for only $950 and then needs a field approval. I think I will just go with an...
DP: Yes, I am planning on the L-19 main spring although I am confused about exactly what to order. It looks like they available from Univair but it isn't completely clear which one is which. If you know of a better source let me know. Also, I think I will replace the whole stack as they all appear...
Thanks for that info. I am not a bush pilot either and the 3200 is just fine for most places I go, with the exception of occasional sand and some rocks for a week out west once a year. But I am replacing my tail spring and in the processes thought about a refurb on my 3200. By the time you add up...
Hope this is the right place to post this... Has anyone with a 170 here put a baby bush wheel in back? I have a '52 170 with O-360, 180 gear and 29' ABWs. I am thinking about replacing the Scott 3200 with a baby bush wheel. It looks like it would add about 9 lbs to the tail. Has anyone gone to...
