RailchummerI'll probably open the case next week. I'm afraid that the #3 bearing may have spun after losing tension on the crankcase due to the sheared hardware. Replacing the broken bolts is best-case scenario, but yes, I'll need the through-bolts as a minimum. I was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience and what the average outcome was. When I shut the engine down it was still running smoothly with good oil pressure, so I've got my fingers crossed concerning what I'll find when I open the case, but I'm kind of expecting the worst.
After looking at AC 43-210A I'm thinking I can do a 172D patrol door mod as a minor mod to the aircraft, but I do intend to talk with the Seattle FSDO first to see if they consider modifying the bottom...
