Rob & my husband as loyal volunteers mow grass, kill weeds, clean toilets & help keep it safe. 2-3 local families have been caring for it for decades. ODA never even bothered to tell them of sale. No attempt to limit risk or line up local govt owner. Potential buyer told us he offered to buy airport to keep it open, but he had no idea volunteers maintain it. How about public/private consortium?

OR Dept of Aviation is moving forward to sell Pacific City State Airport! ODA has not included airport stakeholders - airport volunteers & neighbors, local govt & emergency officials, local businesses and pilots - in any type of conversation or public meeting to understand & mitigate risk before selling this public gem. Sen. Roblan Town Hall meeting Jan. 8, 5-7pm, Kiwanda Commty Ctr, Pacific City
180skywagonCPWell, the proposed owner might be there, but he's 3rd in line for potential owners. ORS 270 requires ODA to follow a specific law to sell real property: 1) declare airport as surplus, 2) offer to sell to State agency, 3) offer to sell to political subdivision (County, Port, Tribe, etc.), 4) make it available to private individual(s). Other private buyers could show interest, also. Discussions with the "proposed" buyer for this public asset have been in closed door sessions. It has not been an open and transparent process.
