Backcountry Pilot

On behalf of the Colorado Recreational Aviation Committee, the Colorado Pilots Assn, and FlyColorado.org, we would like to announce the 2014 La Garita Creek Ranch and Hooper Sand Dunes Pool Fly-in. Please mark your calendars to attend the fly-in Friday May 30th thru Sunday June 1st. Cabins are first come first serve (going fast), and plenty of tent sites available throughout the property. The Fly-in is open to anyone interested. Highlights include nearby fly outs to Hooper Sand Dunes Pool (Saturday lunch and soak), Quarter Circle Circle BLM airstrip, Morning Shadows (PVT), Creede and many other airstrips that make the San Luis Valley a pilots playground. Friday night dinner will be available at the La Garita Trading Post with shuttle accommodations. And once again wonderful Saturday evening dinner will be held in the ranch lodge. We had everything from Cessna 185's, to Carbon Cub's to Stinsons and Cessna 182's (even a Piper Comanche). High density altitude and mountain flying conditions will exist, so please be prepared. Shuttle to the ranch available from nearby paved airports including Del Norte (8V1) and Leach (1V8) with prior notice.
