  • Timbuk2 created a new forum topic Legend MOAC?
Anyone flying a MOAC? Have been looking at building a Backcountry Rev3 or CC EX3 w/modified wings, but the Legend MOAC has some great features. The Legend Cubs in general seem to be respected (but...

A Silky Gomboy 240mm is a wonderful thing size-wise. When more room, I carry one of Bob's buck saws. https://fourdog.com/bobs-quick-buck-saw-30/

We’re getting ready to install a set of Airglas LH4000 hydraulic skis on our PPonked 180 w/ 3-blade MT prop. Am wondering if we will need to take off our Aerocet belly pod (smaller than Cessna/Firman...

http://blog.jackmtn.com/choosing-and-axe-knife-and-saw-jmbv-103/ While many of us read and repeat, or dabble on weekends or short trips, Tim has been living with axes in the backcountry for years as a Maine guide and bushcraft instructor. Here's a decent video on axe choices. http://blog.jackmtn.c

Jerry, Don’t know to whom you were directing your question. I haven’t used the Husky because I felt it would eventually break at the deep logo stamping. Lots of accounts of that failure point in reviews... Still think about getting one from time to time, though... Wish they’d change that stamping

The Estwing’s aren’t good at splitting other than smaller pieces, aren’t good at felling, and come with a poor edge. They have a durable handle and are reasonably priced. We Keep them in our pickup and the 180 for general usage, but like other axes better for making firewood, constructing shelters,

  • Timbuk2 created a new forum topic Katmai meetup August 10-12?
I'm going to be in Talkeetna 2-8AUG, then heading over to Katmai to explore some of the beach strips. Are any folks interested in flying in for a BCP meet-up there, maybe 10-12AUG timeframe? Johnny

Great read. I finished it over the course of two nights, as it was hard to put down. Jake has chronicled nicely the trials (and comedies) of northwoods flying + running a lodge. I hope he writes another.
