  • Not sure if this is of any value to you, but I recently purchased and installed a Bob Piatt Cargo Pod for my 182. I documented the indicated airspeed on (7) flights before install, and (7) after install. I could not come up with ANY speed penalty. The removal and re-install is easy, workmanship is excellent, and theres a lot of room. Its not as deep as the original Cessna pods.
    Good luck!

On The Fly I don't have one at the moment, and the pod is currently not on the plane, however if you go through the modification section of the forum, there is talk of them with some pics. Referred to as the Firman Pod or Bob Piatt Pod. Made in Wasilla AK. It looks like the one on the home page of this site "A Cowboys Guide to the Skywagon", except it's 4" less deep. It has a rather large door on the side and another one on the back for sliding in skiis, or lumber. Workmanship is excellent. He generally charges $3500 to make a new one.
