  • Sounds like your flying in some dangerous territory. I think the first mod on I'd install on my plane would be a sheet of 3/16" hardend plate steel on the belly and under the fuel tanks. Well written and nice photos. Stay safe.

  • G'day there. I love the job you've done on those wheels. Well done. You said they were finished in Imron AF400. Any chance you'd know the paint code? I'm trying to order some over the phone, but Google's colour charts are a little dodgy. Thanks very much.

  • That was great. Love the vid of the Tri-Pacer landing which was also being enjoyed by the photographers best friend. A lot of professional effort went into that piece for the enjoyment of this group. I'm sure I can speak for a lot of us, when I say that we really appreciate it! Ron

  • Not sure if this is of any value to you, but I recently purchased and installed a Bob Piatt Cargo Pod for my 182. I documented the indicated airspeed on (7) flights before install, and (7) after install. I could not come up with ANY speed penalty. The removal and re-install is easy, workmanship is excellent, and theres a lot of room. Its not as deep as the original Cessna pods.
    Good luck!

On The Fly I don't have one at the moment, and the pod is currently not on the plane, however if you go through the modification section of the forum, there is talk of them with some pics. Referred to as the Firman Pod or Bob Piatt Pod. Made in Wasilla AK. It looks like the one on the home page of this site "A Cowboys Guide to the Skywagon", except it's 4" less deep. It has a rather large door on the side and another one on the back for sliding in skiis, or lumber. Workmanship is excellent. He generally charges $3500 to make a new one.

I would like to find a source for various sized, flush mounted inspection panels complete with doublers, ready for installation. Making them is time consuming unless you have access to a Bridgeport. ...

This all started one day back in November 2018 on this site with a thread which discussed differences between the C-182 and the C-205. I mentioned in the thread, that although my 182 has, and continues...

I removed a leaking long range fuel bladder in my 182K today. The cell appeared in good condition except for a leak which developed in the upper forward wing root area. There are no provisions for a snap...

  • On The Fly created a new forum topic Cessna 182 Cargo Pod
I am interested in installing a cargo pod on my 67 C-182. I spoke with a sales rep from Aerocet, and was informed that their pod would only fit the narrow body (pre 62 I think) fuselage. I am considering...
