That one belongs to Shane Langland. He owns Airglas http://www.airglas.com/ that makes aircraft skis and he also owns Eagle Enterprises that sells safety and survival equipment. He was also the Alaska dealer for FAC (Found Aircraft Canada) Last time heard from him he was selling his Found and...
Thanks for that history northernguy! I had the pleasure to meet Bud once and had lunch with him when he brought number 29 demo to Anchorage. He was a super interesting man, God rest his soul. Crazy story about the 2960's. Imagine the persons that still use them will hang onto the data plates or...
We have 2 on strait Aerocets and one on 29 inch Alaska bush wheels. We do not have any skis for them, but I have heard they are a good ski plane. The reason is they do not sink in deep snow because of the flat bottom. Someone thought Found designed them that way for skis but its just how it turned...
Since this was Founds second run, thought might as well start a thread about the history of the plane. It is one of many tough utility Canadian built bush aircraft such as the beaver and otter. It was engineered from the very beginning to fly bush operations. Bud Found designed it so it could be a...
I think the scimitar is fine for wheels and skis but for floats the round trip helps get the plane out of the water faster with a lot better climb albeit with more decibels.
The planes perform well without the VG and wing extensions, sure can get better control at slower speeds but as someone mentioned the wing with heavy loads should be flown faster and I have been told with the VGs the stall breaks pretty hard. I see you have a scimitar prop on your hawk. We run the round tip 84 inch.
Another Found owner here, actually own 3 of them, number 30 (plain manual flap first factory built), number 48 fowler, lightest newer version to be built) and 56 a repaired plane originally was in Idaho. We have a lot of information about the plane from working it since 2002 and have put a total...
