Prop
Whats the best prop for a 1956 high gear 182 with a float kit, 8:50's and a P Ponk O-470-50 for short takeoff?. It has a 82" C66 now with enough clearance for a 88"..
My name is Mike, I go by OKMike, I have a 1957 C-182 with a P Ponk O-470-50 engine, it has a 82"C58 prop on it and I'm trying to figure out what kind of prop to upgrade to.
I would appreciate your thoughts and info on what you are running with some performance info.
Thanks
Mike

182dudeHey mike, my name is also mike...I have a 73 182 with the pponk engine in it. I am running the 82 inch hartzell scimitar 3 blade prop. It is the new design with the blended edge airfoil. So far i am very impressed with it, its very smooth. I do not think it pulls as good as the MT which is $$$$ or the Mccauley C401. Im not a backcountry guy im more of a pavement pounder, so the hartzell works great for me. I really do love it and i like the way it looks on the plane. I have been very happy with it.
Has anybody received a Field Approval to install a 86" C-401 McCauley on a early 182 with 8:50's and a P Ponk engine. The 80" C-401 is approved for the 182 and the 86" is approved for a 180.
What's...
If anybody is in the NE Oklahoma area next weekend feel free to drop in
