OK...MARK IT ON YOU CALENDARS! The 2nd Annual Straight-Tail Cessna Fly-In will be July 16-18 at Smiley Creek, Idaho. U87. Should be warmer this year and maybe even snow-free! Information is sparse...
I ran mmo in the gas,
didn't notice any difference when i quit.
Are you leaking by the rings?
I dunno if you can do much to fix that.
chrome cyls are allegedly hard to break in.
about the only thing you can do now is pull the cyls, hone, & new rings-- then break in again.
Thats a lotta work & money.
I'd just live with the 60-72 over 80 myself.

BirdyinBOIAfter the MMO for 12 hours in the oil...12 oz in 10 qts...the comps are all in the 70’s with 3 of them over 75! I also ran some in the fuel for a tank. Not sure if I’ll continue or not.
OK...great info on the gas but how about MMO? Did you run it in the oil and the fuel? My engine has 350 hrs now on a chrome major but it sat untouched in a hangar for 15 years after accumulating 230 hrs. Compressions were all in the 70’s after rebuild but now they are 60-72. I was told that MMO could “break the rings free of junk” and raise my numbers back up. The MMO debate rages on I found.
I used to use mystery oil but stopped when it got expensive. I've always run 87 octane e-zero ogas in my airplanes (O200, O300, O20, O470), usually mixed with 20to 25% 100LL. I've been running 80% mogas& 20% 100LL in my 180, but recently had to base for 2 months at an airport which didnt sell fuel. so ran 100% mogas. The 180 didn't seem to know the difference.
Hey Eric...I saw a couple posts of your’s years back as I was researching MMO. It sounded like you use Mogas along with MMO. Is that correct? I’ve only used 100LL in my O-470L since I bought it 2 years ago but it has the Petersen STC for auto. It looks like this box allows a limited #of characters. Would you mind calling me or sending your Email so I can ask you about MMO? 208-871-8520. Phil

3 racks and 3 heavy duty straps with ratchets for holding your fuselage during gear removal. Will fit high wing A/C up to a Cessna 182. $100. 208-871-8520
From what I can gather, in 1957 Cessna came out with an extended air intake that was screwed on to the lower cowl and added about 16” and moves the air inlet point from lower down on the cowling to about...
Does anyone have a good working KY 97A for sale that I can use for my primary Comm radio? The -70 model would be preferred but not necessary if the radio is working well. Thanks.

The “other” mechanic is a real rule gestapo. Everything has to be perfect and by the book. My normal mechanic is very reasonable. We haven’t talked about the spinner issue but I’m 90% sure he won’t care. I have to go to Italy next week and so my annual won’t get done until Aug 22.
Tim...I’ll answer here so it’s not so public...never know who’s reading...the mechanic that told me it is “illegal”is not my regular mechanic. My mechanic has had a shitload of stuff going on...personal and professional, and couldn’t get to me until August. My annual ran out on July 1. I didn’t want to miss a month of summer flying and he encouraged me to go to this other guy. Con’t...
