  • North River created a new forum topic Shoulder Harness Options
After re-reading MTV's account of his putting a 185 in the tundra (and years of procrastinating), I figure its about time to upgrade the stock shoulder harnesses in the 180. Wondering what options are...

  • Fantastic essay. Iceland is on our short list to visit. Was not aware of the backcountry flying possibilities!

Love these old stories of getting the job done! Can't keep a plane down as long as you've got good men on the project.

  • North River created a new forum topic Adding music to video
Working on a couple little video clips to post on the FB page and turns out adding music is more complicated than one might think. Facebook rejected the video due to copyright issues. After looking into...

WingX - this mod is more subtle. Empty I hardly even notice it. Yes, there is a slight loss in roll control, but I didn't even really notice it until I flew a stock winged wagon again. Anyone used to flying Cubs or beavers will find a wingX cessna to have great aileron response. Heavy on wheels at

Wings cont.... Sportsman STOL - undoubtably allows the wing to fly slower and at a higher AOA. Under normal conditions I don't believe is gives any advantage. You shouldn't land a skywagon like a SuperStol, and even on 31s you cannot rotate enough to to use the cuff to its full advantage. Under adv

Wings. I really liked the way the plane flew before the wing mods. A stock Cessna wing is really quite impressive in its ability to fly fast and stable, and slow and stable. The big fowler flaps sure help it to fly slow and perform. I believe that an early 180 really does not need all the wing can

I always feel that I'm writing too much, but when reading it, it seems short and lacking in detail. So for those interested - some more details and thoughts on mods. Weight - I've modified three Cubs and a 180 for my purposes so far and the first thing (cause it's the cheapest) is to remove everyt

  • Hey Kevin. I thought your plane was sub 1700lbs? I've certainly spent plenty of time reading post on your plane. Like your style. Would love to try an MT, but it's just too spendy to take the risk on. Only know a couple operators here who have tried them. They love them at first, but not after they

  • Short answer - Yes, in a heartbeat. Comparable price to factory O/H, rebuilt carb and new starter included. Many of the same props are compatible meaning you may not need to upgrade that. Same exhaust,...
