Greetings, I've tried to make it to the Alvord for the meteor shower several times and always been stopped somehow. Looking for lakebed information on Google lead me to this forum. I would like to try to make it to the Alvord either the weekend of Aug 6 or Aug 13th. I see some of you are going. I've read everything available already. The Perseid meteor shower will peak on the morning of the 12th, but the skies will be darker on your dates. I'll try and join you then.2016-05-28 15:59:18

FWD: FWD: FWD: Cut and pasted from other source: "This is it! Come to the Alvord Desert for a weekend of camping with you airplane. The highlight of the weekend will be the night time star watching. The Perceid Meteor Showers will be gracing the evening skies and the moon will be almost non-existent. With the clear skies and no light pollution, the stars will just POP out!
Daytime activities include hanging out, tossing around a Frisbee or football ( Go SeaHawks! ), maybe some kite flying or a hike to the nearby hot springs.
The Alvord Desert is remote... miles form any civilization! bring a tent, a sleeping bag, and a chair. Bring camping food, and lots of liquid.
