Come inaugurate the new grass runway at Madras
The RAF invites you to a special fly-In at Madras, Oregon (S33) to inaugurate the opening of its new grass runway.

Tailwheel pilots know it’s safer to take off and land on grass runways and, therefore, especially appreciate the benefits of operating on a grass surface. But all aircraft are welcome. Tricycle or tailwheel, grass surfaces provide a great experience and more flying fun!

The event begins on the morning of Saturday, June 10 with the opening of the new runway. Opportunities to organize fly-outs to local backcountry airstrips will continue throughout the morning.

On Saturday afternoon the Erickson Aircraft Collection will present a special program for fly-in attendees on their restoration process. Their beautiful warbird collection will be on display, up close and personal. Saturday evening enjoy barbecue dinner kindly hosted by Rob and Tracy of Berg Air.

Sunday morning you are invited on a fly-out to Sunrise Valley Ranch Lodge for a no-host breakfast. The Sunrise Valley Ranch airstrip, located in the Ochoco Mountains about 60 miles southeast of Madras, is the newest backcountry airstrip in Oregon, and was developed with RAF assistance. Owners Larry and Susan Fildes are excited to introduce pilots to their lodge and the activities offered. Note: A safety briefing is required prior to landing at Sunrise Valley Ranch.

Camping at S33 is available Friday, Saturday and Sunday adjacent to the FBO office, or under your wing adjacent to the new grass runway. Bring your own tie-downs if camping. For more details, see: http://theraf.org/civicrm/event/info?id=333
