I tried you tube too. I have the latest flash version for 10.5.8 but I am always having to manually run it because it is not the latest version.

For Vimeo, Flash shouldn't be an issue because they use a HTML5 native video player by default. If your browser supports HTML5 video, it should play.
In Chrome, go to: chrome://plugins/
Disable Adobe Flash Player. Then clear your cache. Try again.
