Yup.. I saw that sign too.... Apparently several of the planes that are tied down here in Jackson are moving down there to take advantage of those great tie down rates and escape Jacksons high prices....

Exactly. I just pretend Jackson doesn't exist.

They already pretend I don't exist.

Jackson started going downhill after they put the tower in! Still, it has the best #1 view/photo op from the ramp/tarmac/tie down area, worth it for out of towners just for that! Stanley is #2, and last I checked there no charge.

Re: 150% price increase at Jackson Hole

Every part of the country has their "unique" set of circumstances that alter the norm... Like Vail, or Martha's Vineyard, or Palm Beach.. Jackson is located in Teton County Wy... 97 % of the available land is either Grand Teton National Park, or Yellowstone National Park, or Bridger Teton National Forest.. The remaining 3% is for private use,,, like us citizens to be able to buy... The sheer odds dictate the land prices are astronomical, and the taxes are STAGGERING..  . Just to fill in some blanks in the story the FBO has to pay the airport board in excess of 1 MILLION a year just to open its doors... That alone pretty much explains the high prices. Is it too high .????? probably, but supply and demand reins supreme... :|

When I dropped in at Joseph (home port of ABW of course) last year to pick up my Airstreaks, I was amazed at the view! What a little piece of paradise, and well worth it for anyone wanting to pick their tires up in person AND save UPS fees. I was in and out within an hour but it sure looked like a great place.

Next time your up there. Plan to take time to run to town. It's a really cool artsy type town. Lot's of bronze art through out Main Street. And Mountain Air Cafe has great food! Oh, a trip down to the lake is well worth the extra time too.

OK........ sorry for the slight thread drift :D
