Re: 180/185 with third row

Speaking of C180s and all the various models, here is a run down of all the model upgrades and changes year by year. This link describes both the 180 and 185 year by year model changes:

http://www.allboutaircraft.com/skywagon.html

I sort of favor the C180H model ( produced from 1965 to 1972 ), and maybe the 1968-69 models are my favorite?

I think I still prefer buying a used 4 place Bearhawk in the next ??? few years, but the C180 is a mighty tempting alternative.

If you need 3rd row seating, what's your favorite C180 model and year, and why ??

The H is my favorite. Seems like it is the lightest 3 window with the higher gross weight. If I had the money then I'd be looking for an early H.

I have never really considered a 180/185 to be a practical 6 place airplane. It is a fantastic 4 place airplane. I consider the extend baggage to be essential if you want to haul anything or get a cargo pod.

Though I wouldn't want to work a non-turbo'd version anywhere near a place with high DA's.

I've seen you say this before. Some of the 135 guys in Idaho operate non-turbo C206s, is there really that big of difference between a 206 and a 207?

No they don't. It's a daily occurance in a C207.

Good to see 55AB still flogging along with Yute Air. I've got a few hours in that yellow beast.

Service ceiling on a C207 is 13,000 feet. They just run out of MP. C206 is a different critter entirely.

I've got a bit over 10,000 hours in Sleds, and the highest I've ever been in one is 9,500 feet. The other 9,999+ hours are all under 2,500 feet.

Ha Ha!

Guess they wouldn't like me then. They'd get the "What are ya? Stupid?" look as I went about my business, fired up, and pulled the nose down with the prop.

There are certain advantages to being retired, and a curmudgeon.

Re: 180/185 with third row

It's hard enough getting three across in a BEAVER sometimes with some larger gentlemen. Can't imagine pulling it off in a 180. Seems like it would be very tight even for small children.

Easy enough to do with a 206. Bear in mind the 206 doesn't have that big nose baggage compartment the 207 has. You can put the tail on the ground and be within CG.

Which is why you need a skid under the tail.....

I found it while searching C180s on Barnstormers. I'm not capable of posting a link from my phone but when I get to a computer I'll do it.

Re: 180/185 with third row

Sounds like a simple addition of a third seatbelt. I wonder if there's a weight limit for the 3 pax on this STC?
