182 E-F

I've seen a few VERY nice 182 E and F model aircraft on this site. Can we show some love to our tiny tail 182's and share some pictures and modifications? :)

I want to redo the instrument panels and build a nice minimalist VFR panel and ditch the vacuum system. MT prop at some point. Extended baggage. Fork STC and 8.0/8.5's. I'm debating on VG's. I don't suspect I'll go any further than that.

Pretty sure a 206 fork was an option in the 1962 to 1964 range of 182's. If that is the case then if you can find a 310 or 206 fork you can install it with just a log book entry. No FA required. Much less expensive than a Landis. But then you need a Landis if you think an 800 is necessary on the nose.

That's an awesome tidbit of info! I check the parts manual and sure enough, the "heavy duty nose fork" is an option for my serial number. I'm seeing a part number of 1243623-2.

This was my plane from 1988-2004. I took this picture and have the original file somewhere in the depths of my Photos album. Somehow, it got onto the web and Flightaware slapped its copyright notice on it.

It's a great plane. The only mod of significance I made was the Selkirk extended baggage. It's a terrific mod. I never felt the need for larger tires or a STOL kit, as I wasn't looking to operate off airport. About the only places it hasn't been in the Frank are the Big Creek 4. It's a great 2 person backcountry camper. When #3 came along, I gave into the my long term desire for something bigger. You can see the promise of betrayal in the paint scheme I chose for 43Y.

Looks like a 310 fork here. It is missing the trunnion (part tube goes into) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Cessna-Heavy-D ... SwdUtdC9z5
