182 Monarch Fuel Cells
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?
Does anyone know what the extended fuel tank size is with the MOnarch Fuel Cell STC on a 182? Saw a 59' 182B with the monarch tanks and listed as 96gal - thats a huge increase over the stock.

I saw a 54 180 that said it was 90 gallons with the monarchs. Also a big increase I thought.

On the older 182s, the Monarchs are added, not replacements. So that original 52 or 54 gallons goes up with 18 more per side with the Monarchs.
I don't think Hartwig is still hawking the auxiliary Monarchs, although they'll build you anything you want. Flint has the Cessna aux fuel tank market now, pretty much. Their tanks can be either in the wing and add 12 per side, or extend the wing and add 14-15 per side--they don't have extended wing tanks for 182s, though, just the internal tanks.

Cary,
Are you saying you can add 12 a side in the existing bay the bladders are in!???
If so, do you think they're good tanks? Always been curious how the fiberglass was versus rubber...

I've got the Monarch tanks in my 1975 C-180, and I hold 96 total. The aux tanks are 18 gallons each and are made of rotomolded plastic. One thing I like about this setup is that when you pump them dry, they're dry, nothing left in them so I know I've used everything I've put in them.

My noble hanger mate has a 59 Cessna 182 with the plastic Monarch tanks totaling 96 gallons.... Real nice setup.... The only thing weird about them is that the caps are different between the outer tanks and the inner tanks.... His has O-Rings on the inner tanks and a flat seal on the outer....
I know the wings had to be removed when they were installed..... Big plus, no bladders to go bad.... Been in this airplane for close to 20 years now with no issues...

My 55 180 has Monarch main and aux. Mains are 56.4, 51.4 usable. Aux are 36.2, 35.6 usable. So total is 92.6, 88.0 usable. These are the slant tanks from the early 180 wing. Later tanks had more, so 96 sounds right.
Of course, mine has a later model two fuel pickups rather than one on the main tanks, so I really have much less than 5 unusable in mains... But don't flight plan based on that.

Thanks! Is there a transfer pump from aux to mains? Basically full it would be my wife and I with not much else totally full.. more fuel than I need to cart around but having no bladders is a big one for me.

Yes, it has transfer pumps. I like that over the gravity feed because I can keep the aux tanks empty unless I need them.
I have Wing-X too so 2950 gross, and so I can fill all tanks, my wife and me, and 350 lbs of other pax or gear. Unless I'm on amphibs like I am now, then it's just my wife and me, full mains, and 60 labs baggage.
