You sure have some fine strips at your disposal. Very nice.

Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

I feel your pain about being down for an annual. I timed out the end of November too. Hopefully back in business soon.

Re: 2023 End of year review

My engine started making metal this year, so I cancelled all of my plans for big trips and remote adventures. I've been living vicariously through folks like you that post fun video summaries of their adventures while I wait for my rebuilt engine to arrive. It's a 6-8 month lead time. Arghhhhh! Thanks for posting some back and side-country candy to keep my interest up. The picture shows the metal washed off of my oil filter paper. It's all ferrous, and the lab identified it as alloys AMS# 6414/6415 & AMS# 6270/6272. Most likely from the camshaft and tappets. Sigh. It looks "fuzzy" because there is a magnet under the plastic cup.

Great review! Reminds me of some of the awesome events in the past like the WAD and the Ohio Bush Planes fly in.

Oh man. Yes I feel your pain, I waited nearly 2 years for my engine, everything is definitely saturated these days, lead times are crazy long. Definitely better to catch it the way you did than having to figure out how to get the plane out of a remote strip.

Thanks, yes there is a good rotation of strips in the area that end up being fly-outs and drop ins from some of the WAD groups. Hoping to get back at it soon!!

Thanks Y'all!!!!! Yes it was a big year, really made the most of getting out and flying, short local trips or rather far!!! Hopefully I get these avionics in and annual done so I'm ready when this snow melts!!
