206 hunting trip to Northern Mexico
Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!
Just got back from Sonora MX hunting Coues deer. My uncle/hunting buddy winters in PHX and last year we did this trip in his truck.
Well, this year it was my turn to provide the transpo. Flew KDTO-KCNM-KDVT then KDVT MMHO the next day. Hunted 5 days and then departed and hit KOLS on the return through Phoenix to clear customs.
Simple trip other than the 61 kt headwinds on the way out west!!
No problems with Mexico at all!!

Beautiful buck. They're tough to get with a rifle say nothing of a bow. Congratulations.

Bummer, can't see the picture.
I will say Congrats! They are a difficult deer to hunt with archery.
I shot one very similar in size several years ago, I was hunting in the Huachuca Mts. of southern AZ. It was a 11-12 yard bow shot! I had hunted him a few days, had stalked him several hundred yards the previous day and realized he was checking his scrapes. I set up an ambush early the next morning in near monsoon conditions. The nasty conditions sure helped with the success.

There was an article in Hunting magazine about 20 years ago about a guy who was a big Coues deer hunter. It had a photo of him posing in front of a barn wall which was just covered with a number of mounted Coues heads, with a beautiful full-body mount on the ground on either side of him. Very impressive!
Yours is a beauty BTW.

Thanks guys!
When i get in front of my computer I'll figure out why the pic disappeared.
Anybody need info on flying down there don't hesitate to ask.
Edit to add: Looks like Photobucket is down for maintenance. Pic should be back up later.

Congrats! Stalking them in that country would be really tough! U probably looked like a pin cushion when it was all said and done.
I shot mine out of a blind at 10:30 in the morning.

We have a rule about landings...they never happened unless you have a photo. This hunting trip needs some pics...

An update:
So I stopped at CNM for gas on my way back from PHX and as i was departing my engine sounded loud....too loud. Checked my headset to make sure it was on and then closed all the vents. Hmmm... Temps and pressure all godd so i put my oxyboom on and continued home, thinking maybe i had another exhaust problem.
Sure enough. Broke an exhaust stud and had brown crap all over the engine compartment. Of course it wouldnt come out so they pulled the cylinder and sent it to the machine shop, which makes for an expensive little fix unfortunately.
Should have the plane back in my hangar tomorrow.
Second time for this in about 8 months.
Any ideas of what I'm doing wrong? My EGTs are always <1400 and TIT is <1500.
So far the past 8 months I've spent $8k on exhaust problems.

Nice job on the Coues. P&Y? That is quite an accomplishment.
I read the thread before you added the photo. The picture is pretty impressive.
