Re: 206 rear door handle popping off

Just like an old car it’s held on with a circlip that slides into the machined recesses on the handle itself. It’s hard to see in your picture but is the necked splined section on the latch mechanism sheared off?

I'll check tomorrow, lighting wasn't so great in the hangar at the time. I think it's probably sheared off because there was definitely no circlip, but I'll double check tomorrow and report back.

Re: 206 rear door handle popping off

Ya, looks like it sheared off at the C clip slot.

You’ll have to dig around but the Cessna door handles are common to many automotive handles.

Used to be you could get that handle at your National Aero Parts Association outlet for about $8.

You might still find one at one of the dustier stores, just make sure you look at one not too close to the airport.

You slide the clip into the slot in the handle , wipe a little grease on the shaft, and carefully noting the angle, pop it into place with you hand.

I’m well worn spindles that didn’t want to hold a clip anymore I’ve tapped a 8-32 threads into the spindle and drilled and cs’d a hole in the handle and just screwed the handle on.

Regardless install under “owner produced part”

Re: 206 rear door handle popping off

Is this piece meant to be press-fit into the door handle? That would explain a lot.

Wow, I've never seen one of those come out, didn't even realize it could come out. If it's still a decent fit and not too loose it could be bonded back in with locktite or something. A new handle is also an option if it's loose on the splines.

I have some green loctite, I’ll give that a go and see. Thanks!
