If they intend to keep the money, then I agree. On the other hand, they could donate proceeds to SAR or pilot education. The gentleman who created No Greater Burden http://m.aopa.org/asf/video/no-greater-burden.html did us all a service, and set the example for honor the face of tragedy, IMHO.

I like "me-n-Joe" stories, but this strikes me as not the typical me-n-Joe. Someone else could write the story, but I wouldn't be comfortable keeping the money if I was telling the tale on myself. It seems like poor repayment of the risks and dollars it took to save them. YMMV.
