3 year old picks color scheme

What is wrong with people? Maybe this is just a personal thing with me. Sorry ahead of time if this is your airplane.

In some hidden areas on the Clipper there is evidence of a similar color that I believe was called " sea foam blue". I don't know if it's the same as this or not, but maybe it's an old school Piper thing? Not my favorite that's for sure.

Haven't you ever seen the color schemes of cars in the late 40s to early 50s?

Colors like sea foam, coral and robin's egg blue were very popular then. Yuck.

The pedals are out of place. The originals had nice welded tube toe brakes.

The scheme, however, looks like it could be original. I knew a guy with a 'Caribbean' model -22 with the same color scheme. I also saw a Luscombe with that color scheme from roughly the same year. Must have been a trend.

Re: 3 year old picks color scheme

That reminds me: I was deciding on the metal color roof tin and trim on my shop and hangar, right at the same time my fabric work was nearing completion on the plane. To make life easier I laid out the color chart from Poly Fiber and also from my local tin supplier. I got them (buildings and airplane) color coordinated, both Daytona White with Emarald Green trim, though the tin place calls it something else. It took about 2 minutes to decide and long term it's worked out well. :o KISS!

I guess I am the odd duck here as I like those old plane color schemes. Especially the ones for the Golden age of airplanes...late 20'sthrough the 30's. But then I particularly like old planes, cars, motorcycles. One day I will own or rebuild an old plane......hopefully.

Re: 3 year old picks color scheme

It might be a trick of the light too making the yokes looks so yellow. If I recall, the ad I lifted that from is for a 1950 Pacer, that has had the D2 engine put in it. Outside it looks great. There is a Duco (GM) paint from 1957 and 1958 that Chevy called seafoam green. Somewhere around here I even have the color mix for it because it was also used on a lot of Fender guitars. I don't think it left they Piper plant like that though. With the Brother labeler black on clear decals. I could be wrong. It's kinda Warner Brothers looking. Like something Bugs would fly. I like seafoam green mind you, just not that combo.

Looks like a williams toe-brake kit for a PA-22/20 tailwheel conversion, which uses Cessna pedals.
I like that green, although I'd probably call it turquoise instaed of seafoam. I've seen both C170's & Pacers painted turquoise & white which looked great. It's that yellow that clashes.

Agree. It's unfinished? It is a conversion and it's later than I thought. I do like the lower panel for a VFR airplane but I would paint the yokes and contact Airtex.

About the pedals, I'm not familiar with Cessnas, but many Pacers have those pedals. To my knowledge, they came standard in that style on all tripacers. It is a converted '53 PA-22 with dual brakes, and my univair converted '57 has the same pedals. With the tailwheel conversion, toebrakes are required as a change from the johnson bar brake under the panel.
