3rd Class Medical

I remember reading somewhere that the FAA was going to consider the proposal to eliminate the third class medical in February. Well, the month is almost over - anyone know the status of this? I wanted to know before deciding what to buy - didn't want to get stuck with a big bucks limited performance LSA only to find I could have gotten a "real" airplane for a fifth the price. Any info would be appreciated!
Best,

I heard AOPA/EAA are going to SUBMIT this proposal to FAA soon. Details on aopa.org and eaa.org
FAA will take it's sweet time looking at it.

There is another thread on here somewhere that I started with the same question. Current smart money is that after the previous FAA administrator resigned under pressure and an interim administrator was named in his place that the proposal is now off of fast track and on slow track. I'm in the same boat more or less and will not wait for that to be decided. I'll either re-up my Class III or go LSA. I haven't decided for sure but probably LSA.
