I just came back from JC yesterday. I spent three days bouncing around the backcountry and had a blast! It was great weather and it looks like it will be the same for our fly-in.

I just wanted to let everyone know that Jackpot, NV (06U) has avgas for $4.12/gallon. Well worth a little deviation for a fuel stop. We hit it on the way home yesterday and he said the price would still be that next week. I think the casinos must subsidize the fuel there to bring in business.

Anyway, just wanted to share it with you all. I stopped in Gooding, ID (GNG) on the way up and paid $4.95.

What's the procedure for getting an attendant out to the airport to pump the fuel ? Reading airnav, it sounds like people were having trouble getting somebody on the phone to come out to meet pilots. Do you know what hours ?

I didn't have any trouble Friday or Sunday, but I don't think the guy gets there until 10:00 on the weekends, so you have to go to the Casino if he's not at the RV park.

I've never been there outside of "normal business hours", so I've never had any problems. There used to be a guy that would monitor the freq, but I haven't heard anyone reply to Jackpot traffic calls in years. It was humorous to key the mike anytime in the area and hear the generic "Jackpot is uncontrolled, no reports available, land at your descretion" type of call.

Anyway, after landing, just taxi over to the tiedown area and park your plane. Walk through the gate to the right as you are exiting and walk some 50 yards or so over to the RV park office where the RVers check in. There you'll find an older gentleman with a military buzz cut. Just tell him that you'd like to get some fuel and he'll come out and unlock/start the pump for you. After you are done filling up, go back over with him to the office and he'll settle up with you. Real nice guy. Not sure what his hours are there though. They were posted by the door, but I didn't pay attention. I'll be stopping there on my way up, I'll make note of it.

If you have time, go over to the Horseshoe Casino and have the fajitas, they are really good.

Just FYI, when we went into Jackpot, we could hear a Warrior trying to get a hold of Wells unicom. They used to sell fuel, but that guy was having a hard time getting ahold of anyone. Just in case you come up short, better call ahead and see if they still offer it and if anyone will be around. It's been years since I've been in there. I haven't checked to see what airnav says.

Ahhhhhh $4.12.....I wish. Here in Anchorage at Merrill Field, I paid $5.49 last night and another location on the field is at $5.80......will it ever stop rising? Never thought I'd say an 0360 was frugal on fuel but, compared to the 0470 in my 182 it darn sure is!!!!

$8.37 a gallon for 100LL in Iliamna, AK as of Tuesday morning...

Almost $200 to fill-up my Champ... OUCH !!!

Whoa.......hmmm.... Until I find an oilwell in my back yard, I might just stick to the Anchorage , Talkeetna, Skwenta bowl and down to Homer. $8.37 is pretty sobering for sure...
