56 182 double pucks

I'm upsizing the MLG tires on new to us 1956 182. Came with AirGlass NLG so just changing out worn out MLG tires and would like to get double pucks at same time. Appreciate opinions/suggestions as I would like to stay with 6" wheels. What is the best value for changing out brakes. I assume my 56 182 has same brakes as similar year 180.
Thanks

My C180 has the cleveland 199-62 kit.
Airframes Alaska sells the ABI equivalent:
199-62 = 3 bolt wheels, 199-62A = 6 bolt.

If you already have Cleveland wheels, I’ve got a set of double pucks that have been sitting unused for a few years now and I’d happily get rid of. If you need the full setup (wheels and brakes), I’d echo Hotrod’s recommendation.

Re: 56 182 double pucks

Guys and Gals, this is the IdahoKid. I'm new to the forum, so please forgive me for being in the wrong areas. Does anyone know of a manufacturer of "wheel pants" for 8.50 tires--either Goodyear or Desser tires"? I now live in the MidWest so I'm building an experimental plane that can take me cross country yet still land in the backcountry strips of Idaho.
Question: Wheel pants for 8.50 tires
Thanks

I've never seen a wheel pants that will fit an 8.50. But if you are building an experimental there is nothing to stop you from building a set, besides the fact that wheel panties are ugly... haha.

Re: 56 182 double pucks

Yes, I agree wheel pants don't make a lot of sense for backcountry flying. My C182 and my C170 I flew in Idaho with no wheelpants. Things change. Now however, I need to fly a long way on a regular basis from the MidWest to Idaho backcountry strips. So I'm trying to have it both ways. For normal flying and quick trips in and out of Idaho, I want something to get me there faster thus the wheel pants.

I don't know of anyone that has a mold for 8.50s. I'm trying to avoid that solution and hopefully find somebody that has done all this work.

Thanks

This is a topic worth discussing. Go to the forum index and follow the steps to start a new topic. No shame in being new to forum world just brace for trolls. I looked at the pants for 8.00s which looked like clown shoes in person. Unless what your building is Waco sized, its going to be hard to pull it off. If you are not going through mud, snow, or big rocks, you can make a case that pants protect your horizontal and flaps and are easier to sacrifice or repair.

I'm not convinced most wheel panties do much for speed,
esp if they're "plus-sized" to fit over 850's.

This. I'd be surprised if it made a difference worth chasing. How long of flights are you planning?
