7GCBC lifting floor
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
I'd like to lift the rear floor section on my Citabria to have a look underneath. I'm thinking of maybe going to a firewall Odyssey and extending the baggage at the same time.
Question.....how does the floor come out? Looks to be a piece of 1/4" plywood, but there doesn't seem to be any room to twist it to get it out. Any hints?
Some funny-looking clips hold it on in four spots, not sure what releases them. Just realized that the side upholstery is a curtain-rod held up with coil springs and then stapled to the wood floor. Any improvement possible? I didn't realize throwing firewood and a chain saw in the back that I was close to punching holes in the fabric. Anybody gone with .025 aluminum, or some kind of plastic to line the inside instead of the vinyl?

Let me check today, I'm helping my bud, I am re-wiring it while he re-does the fabric. Since the floor is out and there is no fabric, I'll see if I can shoot a pic or two and get you some advice. It was a good thing to re-wire his airplane, lots of piss poor mods over the years with bare, hot wires all over the place. Most of the fuse holders where broken or crumbling from age. I especially loved the coat hanger buss bar. You may want to take a peek and see if your wire conforms to the good old boy rusty Chevy standards or not.

I'm recovering mine right now and the 2 front split floorboards and the one under passenger seat comes out, but the baggage floor has to slide out sideways because of V braces.

Dogpilot,
Thanks for the pics. Seems to confirm N300RE advice that the rear panel is not removable unless you slice the fabric and take it out sideways. I wonder if anyone has come up with a two-piece version that would be removable. I can see why a metalized removable belly would be attractive to avoid all this grief.
BTW, my plywood looks like old (starting to check) 1/4" 3 ply fir. Cheap stuff but probably good for 30 years. I might look at Rainbow Ron's floorboards that are supposed to be 5-ply birch.
