8.0 tires on Cleveland wheels and brakes?

I had the brakes changed to the Cleveland brakes & 8.5 x 10 tires with Cleveland wheels. Will my orig 8.0 x 6 tires and wheels work with those brakes? I orig had McCullough brakes on the plane.

If not what needs to be done to make them work,

thanks

I would assume your Clevelands will work just fine with the six inch wheel and the ten inch wheel.

Though... What brand are your original wheels?

I recently had Cleveland dble puck brakes and 8.5 x 10 tires on Cleveland wheels installed on the 180B.

Before the change over, the tires were 8.0 x 6 with McCullough brakes.See pic.

Re: 8.0 tires on Cleveland wheels and brakes?

It seems you may be mixing your metaphors, so to speak.

What WHEELS are you using? Tires are noted by tire size X wheel diameter (for example 8.50 X 6 implies an 8.50 size tire that fits a six inch WHEEL rim.

far as I know, the only way to (legally) adapt 10 inch wheels to a 180 is to either use the stock 6 inch wheels and 10 inch wheel adapters from Gar Aero (now some other name, but wheel adapters in any case) OR use Alaskan Bushwheels' 10 inch wheels. Those would be the legal (as far as I know) way to adapt 8.50 x 10 inch tires to a 180.

So, what WHEELS did you use, pictures of the NEW setup would be helpful.

Re: 8.0 tires on Cleveland wheels and brakes?

What he is asking, is if he can run his 6" wheels and disks with the small tires (presumably for cross country speed) while leaving the Cleveland calipers in place.

I also assume the legal answer is no :( , most likely the next best solution is to watch for a used set of Cleveland wheels to mount your smaller tires on, and yes I know you just bought the Gars...

I will shoot you a PM with a local guys contact info, who may be able to help you.

Take care, Rob

What Rob said!

First of all, welcome!

I don't think you want to run the original McCauley wheels with your updated Cleveland brakes if that is what you are asking. I doubt you'll want to switch back to 8.00's anyway, unless of course you are going on skis.
