New to the forum and thought I'd share this.
About a week and a half ago I flew into town to put gas in the plane. When I got back both wings were leaking fuel. This is in a 1977 Bellanca Scout with 1993 metal spar wings. Upon investigation, the leaks were from the large cross feed line between the tanks in each wing. All the rubber fuel lines were starting to get tired, but the large cross feed line was like a rock.
The solution was to drain the tanks, drill all the rivets in the metal panels over the tank bays, and replace every piece of rubber we could find. It is also worth pulling the vent check valves and cleaning them. The birdie is now housebroken!
Just another thing folks might want to keep in mind to check up on now and then.
