8GCBC wheel skis

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

8GCBC wheel skis

Hi, I recently purchased a 8GCBC project which when rebuilt I plan to install
on wheel skis, preferably AWB2500 or Fli-Lite 3000 hydraulc skis. Does anyone out there have a previously approved FAA 337 form they would be willing to share with me? Also I have a 1973 185 I am putting on C3200's, these call for 7.00 tires but I would like to use with 8.00 or 8.50 tires, anyone have a FAA 337 for this? Thanks for all the help. Tim

Marylin Buker of Kodiak, Alaska has an STC for the Scout on Fluidyne retractable Wheel Skis. This is probably the easiest way to do this. I think Marylin is in the book, but she's well known around there, so if you get in touch with one of the flying outfits, like Andrew Air, they could get you in touch. I don't know if she still owns the stc, but I believe so.

Tim, be sure to keep us updated on your progress on that 8GCBC. Where did you find your project?

Zane, to be honest this project is probably 2, maybe 3 years down the road. Trying to get my information and choices sorted out so I can start looking for skis, as these seem to come and go on the market. As for the Scout, I found it on Barnstormers, was interested as it was at Metroline Aviaton in the Detroit area, about 150 miles from where I live making it easier to pickup with a trailer. All I actually have so far are a damaged fuselage, damaged wings needing spars, seats, instrument panel, couple of boxs of small parts, and paperwork. Again these projects come and go so I bought it with the intent of storing it until I have a chance to get to it. Metroline is trying to get in the salvage business, buying several aircraft from insurance companies (when I picked up this Scout a month ago they had 40, yes 40 aircraft to pickup that month). They had just gotten a late model trigear Maule in that day. Most of what they had are the run of the mill single and twin Cessna, Beech, Piper, plus a few newer Cirrus. When I get into this project I will try to post a few photos and let people know how it goes.

Mike, thanks for your response, we kind of discussed this on another site, and as you mentioned, I would like to stay away from the Fluidyne C3000 do to the weight, I believe, but may not be correct that the mentioned STC is for these skis, not the Fli-lite 3000 which use the plate that slides below the tire.

Heck yeah! The prop looks really nice. Need to change the oil, and am set to do some flying around the end of april is the weather plays nice. After that it's going to be a lot of practice and more practice getting to know her.
