No better places than the Sierras and High Desert. Beautiful! Green with envy

I flew my amphib to Placerville (from Oregon) to climb at Lovers Leap a few years ago. Met a guy there named Hans Florine who lead a few pitches for me. He later climbed the Nose in 2':23" with Alex Honnold. Interesting people out there.

I was sitting under the SkyCrane in Minden this morning, figured you were out there having fun just over that hill. What a nice day for flying! Do me a favor and toss out some matches so I can go fly too!

Gorgeous photos aktahoe1! I'm a little jealous you got up today. I'm a little curious, do you fly out of the South Lake Tahoe airport, or Truckee, or somewhere else? I'm in Incline Village, and we usually go through Truckee.

As a heads up to anyone who may be going out to the lakebed before the weekend . We picked up a BUNCH of nails ,took a lot home and just piled up more into piles for removal in the next few days. Be careful where u drive your airplane around, there are sill nails out there. The "runway" is good to go for landing and you most likely won't find anything bad if you stick to it . FYI

If you're still in Minden manana, stop by and say hi. I'm working to convert my amphib to bush in time for 3SGS down in hangar D in bldg 2184. Also lunching at the Taildragger.
If you come into the Tail Dragger Cafe, and aren't sure, I'm the tall, dark, handsome guy at the bar flirting with Sonny or Rene.

Anywhere that there was a burn pile there were nails...they are in piles now and will be gone by Thursday morning. We figured it was from pallets being burned.

Seems reasonable that scrap wood would have nails. But, not very cool the "piros" to leave them. Glad you guys saw them!
There was some talk on a dirt-bike site about people allegedly throwing sharp objects onto riding trails to stop riders.
