Well I was watching a movie "8 below". Anyway this expidition team is in the Antartic and leaving base camp. Cool I says to myself a Turbine Otter. What! Starts like a radial, idles like a Cessna 150. No turbine whine what so ever. Bummer! Movies... do they ever get them right?

Robert "Bub" Wright, aka Skylane, passed away in November of 2011. He was a beloved community member and will be missed.
You'll notice almost all helicopters sound like a Bell 47 too.

There is also a shot in that movie, don't know whether they are arriving or departing, with a shot of the panel that shows a whole set-up of EI equipment with all the analog arcs pinned to the left as in "ENGINE NOT RUNNING"!
I got a laugh out if it being that the plane was taxiing at the time!

Or in Airplane, the persistent drone of prop noise every time they show the jet in flight. I love that movie.

Wowzers!

Did you see the dust that kicked up behind the DC-3 when it did that low pass. Not sure if the props weren't trimming the catus.
