Came across this article and thought it was a good boost for general aviation by a student pilot

Interesting. Nice article. Would this be a bit beyond the scope of a learners permit?

This was discussed on a flight instructor forum. It turns out that these flights were all done with a CFI aboard, thus dual flights. Wouldn't sound as cool in an article for the media, soo.....
