A Search for member by State function

I wondered if there was a way to setup a search for members by state. For example, I am wanting to network with other Missouri "backcountry" pilots. I wanted to maybe even get together for flying fun. I have tried searching around on the forum but I have not been able to find a way to search for each member by state. I can see in the member list that one column sometimes shows what city and state they are from but I cannot search by that. Also, it (the column of city and state) doesn't have the fields filled for every member.

Would this be a possibility? It seems to me to be a good function to take internet friendship to actual "real life" friendships and networking.

Sorry if there is another post about this somewhere else, but I did search as best as I could and didn't see anything.

We started a members map years ago. It's strictly volunteer so there's only a fraction of the members on it.

Feel free to put your mark on it. :)

Hey thats great! I added myself. I was a little disappointed to find only 2 members in my state. I would be willing to bet that there are many more than that.

The question I have is, how would "new" people find this map. Is it linked somewhere? I know I didn't know how to find it. I would be willing to bet that there are current members who do not know about this map. Is possible to add it to the top menu?

Update your profile to be more specific than "United States" if you hope to attract any of your neighbors. I have no idea where you live, how can I know if we're close enough to hang out?

Forthcoming version of the site will have region-specific communities. If you fly in the NW Oregon area, for example, you can join that community and find all the other people who also identify with the region.
