A trip to Antarctica in photos

Just back today from the bottom of the world. It was a really great trip! Went from Reno to Houston to Buenos Aires to El Cafte to Ushuaia. Loaded a boat in Ushuaia and then traveled to Antarcticas, Graham Peninsula. You will see some photos from Port Lockroy. Planes used to fly in and out as you will see in the gallery.

We skied 8 of the 12 days counting the time in Ushuaia in all sorts of weather. In all total we had 93 skiers getting after it each day. In the album here you will see my trip down with the airports, airplanes, birds, seals, penguins and whales along with great skiing and a naked woman jumping in for the polar swim. We even flew the speedwing... :D

Anyhow, check it out:

Its always good to go away but great to come home. Looking like the skis will be needing to go on the plane soon.

Re: A trip to Antarctica in photos

It was an organized trip. We take 100 people down every other year. This was my 3rd trip. The entire boat, staff, etc., is ours. We are the only group on the planet that is allowed to access the mts with that large number of people to ski on the Graham Peninsula. Lots of trips to go see penguins and wildlife but we are it for ski mountaineering. You should come join us.

Whoo-Hoo! Great photos, and I can't wait to hear more about your trip.
That speed-wing flight must have been pretty cool, too!

Fantastic Kev... any POW or mostly hard pack? I'd love the trip but from looking at the sea crossing pics, I dont think Target and Fred Meyers put together have enough seasickness pills, patches and small blue bags for a one way trip for this cat! Cheers, BCT

Next trip is in 2013. All are welcome as there is something for everyone. Not turning this into a sales pitch...

Here is a video from one of our guides on the trip.
