A Wing in the Wilderness, Adventures of N182RW

What an exciting year it’s been seen N182RW took to the skies! I had the amazing experience of helping a lady pilot finish out her Private Pilots License. We geared her training towards short and soft field in a real world environment. She soloed in the Skylane and soon developed a great feel for its capabilities.

It turns out Kelli Weed is quite a writer as well and together we coauthored the cover story in the Cessna Pilots Association’s April magazine. Kelly’s passion for flying and her enthusiasm for what we all enjoy made for an incredible adventure. It’s about nine pages long. Attached are the cover and an inside sample.

Although I don’t have the depth of experience of many of you, it was still quite rewarding to pass on just a little of the knowledge I’ve gained to someone focused and driven. I look forward to working with other youngsters with a similar passion for flying.

The mountains were calling early Wednesday morning and I had to go!

I will have to order that magazine. I remember appreciating, when first posting on this site, a young 150 pilot using low ground effect effectively to get out of a short field and over some brush in a video. Some here didn't think his was the best technique, but I jumped in very much in favor of the low ground effect takeoff for all work especially short field over an obstruction. I am sure this young lady is getting high quality mountain and off field instruction.

Good work. Keep us in the loop.

My virtual friends at Backcountrypilot have always been good to me. I posted a video once on another site that was not well received there. It created a lot of flap no pun intended, but the folks here were very supportive.

Yes, I remember you describing that back then. Like my war stories, I get details mixed up sometimes. My apologies to our guys.

Rich, nice plane and good on ya for helping Kelli out. We never know when we make an impact on people with our aluminum steeds. You’ve got a lifelong friend and she has a lifelong memory

I’m back! It’s Been a tough year, but I’m ready to contribute again.

Saturday Romeo Whiskey met Angel for the first time.
130 hp difference between them, but they love the same places. Big on flaps, love short and sweet in the Idaho Backcountry.
