Across the US in May

So I have a friends wedding on May 10-12 in Raleigh, NC. I'm debating...
Option 1) Spend $600 and buy a ticket via airline (10-13 May)
Option 2) Spend $1000 more and fly myself, GO TO Caveman, make a stop in Oaklahoma, Arkansas & maybe Georgia to visit family. (4-16 May)

What would you do? ( WWBCPD haha )
Anyone need to visit famiy in middle America want to split costs!?

Option two, you're getting alot out of that extra $400 with Caveman and seeing family.

If either is a viable option to you for both time and money then do you really have to ask :D Of course the weather can always stretch both of those budgets (time/money), but that just adds to the adventure and still makes it worth it to me!

At a glance (i.e. no scientific or experiential evidence) it looks like you made a conservative estimate. That will help you decide to fly yourself.

I say fly it. Can't wait for the trip report. General Aviation is the answer to the TSA.

P.S. I have no idea why I quoted robw56 for this reply. Must have hit the wrong button.

I got family in NC, no airplane and a ppl. I'll go with if we do multi-pic time with me under the hood. You have to stop in Colorado to pick me up. Deal?

Bryan, if you stop in CO, I'll buy you lunch. I vote for flying yourself.

Re: Across the US in May

Come on in to Raleigh East (W17). I'll arrange one of our swankest tiedowns for you, and you can top of with some of our fine ethanol-free mogas.

And I bet I could wrangle up a few cold brews too... :D

I'll second that motion... only I won't be there as I have a prior commitment. I will advise you though, that if you want cold brews from RDUStinson, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT, wear anything colored blue and, whatever you do, do NOT say "I love the Tarheels." That might get you thrown off the airport.

Come on now Keith- I'm not nearly that rabid! In fact our fuel guy is a pretty misguided individual in that fashion and we still get along just fine. I might point out the errors in one's ways, but all are welcome! :D
