Can anyone with a FACTORY Cessna POD tell me what it ACTUALLY weighs? The Cessna equipment list says 37#, but my research says it may be more by a fair amount.

74 lbs? Wow. I think I remember that bird. I think my dad sold Mike an Installation kit (hardware/cowl flap extensions). I've tried to buy a few factory pods that needed a refresh but I've never been able to.

The problem I've seen with "original" Cessna pods for the 185 is that at least some of them are "rebuilds" and sometimes complete replacements, with a data tag attached from the trashed original. I flew a 185 that had one of those. It was waaay heavier than it was "supposed" to be, though I don't recall the weight. Our mechanics suspected it was a homebuilt with a Cessna tag on it, but....

Ours weighs 66lb incl the top. It is a Cessna copy which is fully enclosed with a molded top to fit the Belly. It is more rigid, fully water proof and protects the belly from damage (but is heavier). It is attached by six turn buckles (3 aside) and can be removed in 10 minutes. I would imagine the top would add 20 lbs maybe. I would post a photo if I could figure out how. Gave up in frustration.
