AD's to become email only

I signed up for the electronic AD notification service and exchanged a couple of emails with them.

One of the little pearls I received is " The paper mailings will be stopping in the near future."

So I guess that means if you don't sign up for the service and don't have an email account, you could possibly be in violation of an AD due to lack of knowledge.

"Hello, I am from the Government and I am here to help you."

I received a letter from Cessna the other day about an AD on seatbelt reels. It is obviously intended for aircraft much newer than mine, but can i expect to receive this kind of manufacturer notification for any model of Cessna?

How will the FAA notify an owner? Do you sign up for alerts for a particular type?

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

AD's by email

If you log onto http://rgl.faa.gov/ and follow the trail you will get to a section where you can pick your engine, propeller, and aircraft.

Supposedly you only get AD's from the ones you check.

The system has "a few issues" right now and every one gets "appliance" AD's

Seats, seat belts, toilet seats, coffee pots, etc.

I also just got a couple of turbine AD's, so I figure the system has a bunch of rough spots which they claim to be working on.

Seems like they are following the Microsoft model. Put a beta version out as finished product and let the public be your testers, but they pay full list.
