Im studying to get my ground instructors certificate in order to be credentialed to teach an aviation science class at the school I work at. I may also doing some ground school instructing as well.

I know the difference in what you can do with the two certificates but how are the exams different other than the number of questions?

Does the BGI exam omit rotorcraft and other non fixed wing flight?

I'm using a book with the sample questions to prep but didn't they add a lot of questions they didn't realse? Any other ideas how to study?

I'm debating if I should just take the Basic and get it over with ASAP or do the Advanced so I sound smarter.

Think the Basic is 60 questions, mostly Private knowledge.
Advanced is (used to be) 100 questions, mostly Commercial knowledge.
IGI is 60, basically another Instrument written.

FOI (new book) still required unless teaching already.

I'd get the Advanced and Instrument GI. FSDO issues on the spot if you walk in with test results and completed 8710 or IACRA.
Cert from OK- Shitty takes a few weeks, though.

Could have changed since I got mine. I think they revamped the whole shebang.
