Advice on Utah Idaho Montana etc...

Coming over to this area in Sept for three weeks.

Plan is to arrive in Denver, grab a car and do as much as possible of that area.

Obviously can't bring my C180 over but wonder if anyone can point us in the right direction re schools that will hire out aircraft in the area.

Fairly unlikely but does anyone hire out C180/185s ?

Any suggestions for other points of interest appreciated also.

Thanks

Wouldn't you know...

...my wife and I will be on vacation during September. We will be hiking in Glacier National Park in Montana during the second week of the month.. Sure wish that I had known about your trip in advance. I would have brought the Maule out and we could of had some fun. Not as much as in your 180...but fun just the same.

If you happen to be wandering around the Glacier Park area the second week of September....perhaps we could meet for an evening together. Meadow Creek and Schafer Meadows are beautiful backcountry strips not far from Glacier. If you flew into Kalispell, we could pick you up in our car. Sorry that I can be of no help concerning the rental of a C-180 or 185. Maybe someone from backcountypilots would like to team up with you in their airplane. Good luck.

Good to hear from you,

Bob

These guys in Idaho have a 206 for rent. Not exactly what you were looking for, but it will work in 99% of the airports.

Just a thought, but do you have a US pilot's license? If not, now may be the time to start looking into the requirements, if you were planning on renting a plane and flying without a licensed US pilot with you. The US may have some sort of reciprical or short term, temporary program. I don't know. When I got-added a Canadian license, I was required to take a physical by a Canadian approved doctor, proof of English proficiency and an abbreviated written test. No flying or oral required. Not a big deal, but would eat up precious time while you are on holiday. Good luck. Steve

Chris...thanks for that, looks like it would be a great beast to use there. I'll be contacting them.

Steve..thanks for that..I've got a FAA licence that I've just renewed for the English proficiency and plastic card.

If either or both of you do that, PM me....I'm only about 25 miles from there. I'd meet ya at Scotty's for a burger.

Also Retail aviation in Moab, UT (CNY) has aircraft for rent. And LaVar Wells is a legend instructor in the Utah backcountry!

I don't rent my airplane (Cessna182) out but I would be glad to show you around some of the Idaho back country strips. I live in Vale, Or. just over the state line from Boise, ID. We could go into Sulphur Creek, or Mackay Bar for breakfast. Let me know. Bob
