Aero Skis

Anyone heard of Aero Ski 2400s? Anyone know where to get a used pair for my 170B? The snow is coming, have to get ready!

never heard of 2400's.

but aero ski makes a R2800 retractable wheel ski. they are a very simple design that seems to work quite well. they are deployed to the "skis" position with a lever while on the ground. and they can be retracted to the "wheels" position in flight by a pull cable and spring mechanism.

i have a few friends who use them and seem to like them for their versatility.

I think that's what he's talking about, and slainte--I told you I always seem to get that retraction thing backwards  .

i have a set of federal 2500 straight skis for sale with extended bottoms if you are considering straight skis. they come with wheel dollies to move in/out of the hanger.

Re: Aero Skis

A friend of mine just bought a pair of these. The price seems right for a brand new set. Are any of our constituents out in the world running these? Pretty basic science and the technology hasn't changed much in the history of ski flying but I'm very interested in support from the manufacturer and just if anyone is flying with them.

Thanks

From the site:
The particular model shown above is the Model H1250.
* Here is an all metal ski made by a company who’s sole business is aircraft skis.
* Homebuilt owners treasure their aircraft just as certified aircraft owners do, so why risk the aircraft on questionable products or accept poor ski performance? Your homebuilt deserves skis that look and perform just like traditional skis.
* These skis are made to the exact same standards and test requirements as the Aero Ski Certified line.
* Dolly holes are designed in to move the aircraft from the hangar, etc.
* Plastic bottoms are an available option.
* Rigging Hardware Package available to install skis on most aircraft.
Specifications:
Model: H1250
Width: 8″, 10″, 12″
Length: 65″, 66″, 67″
Weight: 12-14 Lbs.
ACFT Gross: 1250 Lbs.

Re: Aero Skis

Yes I did have the plastic bottoms. I wouldn't want skis without them. It really increases the slipperyness (if thats a word).

Skis went on last week. Would recommend the 2800s. Operating at 7300ft, the performance is never stellar, but even with the anemic aircraft performance, they have gotten the job done. Need to move the rear bar to the top of the ski.
Company support is outstanding. If you can understand Minnesotan, Troy, the owner answers the phone and has always been generous with info and his time.
