Aeronca Sedan. What your thoughts?

Well, I don’t have to be jealous I just bought one. 1948 models little over 2000TT 1000 SMOH, 7 hrs on 6 new cylinders. Its in SoCal, I’ll be taking it to Reno next week (weather permitting) and then bringing it home to Alaska in May

I drooled over that one on Barnstormers. You snapped it up quick! Good one. I look forward to following it.

All that one needs is a seaplane door...they’re fantastic airplanes.

No seaplane door for me. But some bushwheels are in its future.

Aeronca Sedan. What your thoughts?

Flying a 15AC around at low level with the seaplane door wide open is so fun! The view and visibility is the best.

Thanks. With only a couple hundred flying you gotta move fairly quick, I already missed a couple by thinking too long.

It does have the cool sliding window so you can fly along with your elbow sticking out just like in an old pickup truck. :D

IMHO these airplanes have the nicest lines of all high wing GA aircraft in this class. This one was an exceptional find!

Thanks Rob! I've always loved the lines, truly a classic form....if it's okay to boast about my own ship!

My greatest joy so far with it has been when Don Sheldon's daughter Holly "liked" it on FB. Silly maybe but I think Don would have liked it too!

Well probably doesn't mean anything but Noel Wien's grandson really likes it! NICE airplane!

Thank you, it sure does! I was fortunate to have dinner with your grandparents at the Millard’s home in Wasilla back in 1976 or ‘77. One of my heroes of aviation.

Hit me up when you get it home. I have a 170 at PAWS and it would be fun to hit some little strips with it. Take some pictures, convert gas into noise!

Re: Aeronca Sedan. What your thoughts?

A guy I knew in Pt Angeles WA passed away recently.
He owned a very nice Sedan which he restored himself several years ago.
He was getting ready to upgrade to an O360,
and had most if not all the parts to do it but got sick before he could tear into it.

I don't know his widow at all, or have any contact info for her,
but I imagine that it will be sold at some point.
Someone told me he wanted the engine conversion done before it was sold, dunno if that'll happen or not.

Don't know what to say about how to approach her about selling the airplane,
except just keep in mind he passed away less than a month ago.
Here's the FAA sheet on the airplane.

And here's a link to a photo.
