After 29 years, finally taking the plunge!

Well, after 29 years of procrastinating, making excuses, kids, relocations, job changes and life in general I have finally made the commitment.

This Saturday I am attending a local flying club meeting to join. Have talked to the club president, paperwork complete, the check has been written, and he put me in touch with a good flight instructor.

I've talked to the CFI, seems very nice and knowledgeable, I am taking him to lunch after the meeting to get better acquainted and map out a plan to complete my PPL by the end of May I hope.

I'm am so looking forward to beginning this new chapter in my life, but I am mostly proud of that fact I've managed to not purchase an airplane yet! [-o<

I appreciate the knowledge and experience present here on BCP, I have learned a lot and in the end it has fueled my desire and probably going to cost me a lot of money over the next few years.

Thanks all

8) Started in '77 but didn't finish up. Started again in '05 and finished up. Bought my first airplane in '06. Wish I had finished up the first time. It was a lot cheaper then! Making up for lost time now, though.

Best wishes in all your endeavors!

Thanks everyone, I'm very excited about it.

d.grimm...thanks for the offer! I gaurantee I will take you up on it, I live 10 minutes from KTOL. My plan is to find someone in the area to get my tail wheel over the summer.

Somewhere out there is an M5 that will be part of the next chapter, unless I get convinced otherwise on my choice.

hooznext,

I want to wish you the best of luck completing your PPL. I followed a similar path by soloing in 1980 then having to stop because of starting a business and having a family. It took me years to get back to flying. But I will tell you what, it has been worth it! Good luck!

Thanks Skystrider, I have been working with a close friend for the last seven years on a startup company, we are finally making money. My wife started her own business about five years ago, then in December '05 I started another business!

Hopefully somewhere in all that I will get the time and money to truly enjoy this.

Don't rule out the lowly tripacer for a first aircraft. They're a better back country airplane and purchase price is a lot lower than the average 172. I flew mine all over Idaho and got in and out of some strips I wouldn't even think of taking a 172 to. Good luck :D
