I saw this on Yahoo too. Hercs and C17s have been making regular flights to McMurdo sound for years, and the 130s go some pretty wild places. http://www.antarcticanz.govt.nz/travel/2346 Can someone tell me what's newsworthy here?

When I was in the service we used to fly into McMurdo fairly often, then on the other side a Barrow and above.

It can be interesting when landing on the ice runways, but they always got them on and safe.
