Re: Aircraft missing in the Hood canal?

I heard the CG talking to ATC about this yesterday afternoon. So far, no mention of airplane make/model or even type (piston single, twin, jet, whatever). The search for survivors was called off after several hours. Debris was found, including pilots ID.
We're still waiting to find out who it was. Always a bummer to hear about a plane crash, but even worse when it's in your area and there's a good chance that you know the pilot. I haven't heard about anyone I know not coming home yesterday, which is a good sign.
BTW Seabeck (where this happened) is just south of Bangor Sub Base (P-51), and not far from Apex Airpark, Lesiureland Airpark, and Bremerton Nat'l airports.

This sounds awful. Flying over water, especially cold water always gives me a shiver. And if it is big water I wear a float coat.

Let us know if they're found.

Re: Aircraft missing in the Hood canal?

Search for survivor(s) abandoned after about 8 hours. Debris found, including some personal effects of pilot.
I believe the airplane & body are still unrecovered.
Pilot was Bob Alexander of Fox Island, plane was his RV7 out of Tacoma Narrows.
This airplane was featured in the "Completions" section of the Aug 2014 edition of EAA Sport Aviation.
