Yup, the overreaction and hysteria over the kung flu continues.

Re: Airman show cancelled

My aunt’s mother, both a coworker’s parents, and our neighbor’s sister all died in the last week. Two are confirmed Covid. Two are highly likely, awaiting testing. It doesn’t feel like an overreaction to me...

I'm curious, were these people the picture of health before or maybe people that smoked, overweight, or other health issues to begin with. Was surprised the national news had a congressman on that was recovering from this virus and he was smiling and said he basically had a head ache for a few days and looked good on TV.

Re: Airman show cancelled

180Marty please understand that what I am about to say is not directed at you but sadly a large group of people. So, is it alright that people die from this or any other disease because they smoked, are over weight, have underlying health issues, are elderly? From a disease that they may not have contacedt or that the health care system may have been able to deal with effectively if we "flatten the curve" so that help will be available to all that need it. When, if people were less selfish, thought of the impact on others, and followed the guidelines (social distancing) before doing what they wanted, because "I want to do it now and I can survive this if I get it". Just because some, and possibly most individuals will get a mild case does not mean that there will not be individuals that have life changing effects (the damage done to the lungs will never totally repair itself) or die. It is time for everyone to make sacrifices for the good of society as a whole and not do what they want just because they can. I for one do not want a single child, great grandmother, or twenty year old to die because I "didn't want to stay home". Rant off.

Re: Airman show cancelled

Tim, no offense taken, but something that is funny is that my typical day is what is going on right now. My 180 is in my hangar 1 mile from the my house and my farm is a mile the other way with CRP full of deer and pheasants. I ride my bike a lot and most days don't turn the ignition key and some days don't talk to one person( usually when I do it is at the grocery store for a few minutes. These forums are way more interesting than talking to most locals that are clueless about 180's. I look at the 180 a lot and check mouse traps and fly it once in awhile taking in the local scenery. I guess if everybody was like me, there'd be no problem. The one thing I don't like is when the National Guard is called out to enforce Martial Law and funny how my Dad predicted over 30 years ago that some event would bring the country to a halt.

Re: Airman show cancelled

Marty, your normal day sounds like mine is except that the deer are on the 60 acres I live on and I have to drive 30 min to the airport, usually after it is closed. I actually saw your question as to the overall health condition of the unfortunate victims who died as an attempt to gain information to better evaluate your own risk not to divert the cause of their death from the virus. Like me maintain your distance and wash your hands.

Re: Airman show cancelled

Like you and Marty, we live in the country on 50 acres (which seems small relative to the farm I grew up on). Gatherings are not often, and are small. The biggest is Sunday's at Church, and we're all careful there. Our Governor just issued a "stay at home" order. Glad we have plenty of venison and other foods in the freezer, our own well, plenty of fuel for the generator, etc. Guess the 170 will just have to lounge in the hanger for a few more weeks.

It's, in my opinion, the cities where the problem is. You can't do anything without being around a bunch of people. I'm not anti-social, but, I do like my space.
