Airports west of the Rockies with Mogas

This was a quote from my Just a little Ethanol thread.

There are a few that I know of west of the Rockies http://www.airnav.com/airport/U96 Just called them. 87 octane sells for 3.799 per gallon. It is not advetised in Air Nav but they have it.

Also do not forget Delle, UT http://www.funplacestofly.com/display.asp?ID=850

Also Denio Junction in norther Nevada http://www.airnav.com/airport/E85

The last two I listed have a good selection of snacks. Anybody else want to add to the list

I think you can get mogas at Fields, OR. (just north of Denio). If you land on the road, watch out for the road signs #-o !

What about the gas station right next to the airport in Afton, WY (AFO)? The old runway is right by it. Although there has to be a rule in the book of rules about gassing up a plane straight from a car gas pump.

I made the statement about airports west of the Rockies. Here is what I know. It doesn't do much good if they are not publicly listed. Nobody can flight plan that way. Be careful of Fields, they will go E10 any day now, and maybe Denio if they are supplied by the same distributor.

These are publicly listed airports with Mogas:
Pullman, WA (KPUW)
Lebanon, OR (S30)
Rome Service, OR (0OR6) (This is a private dirt strip on the charts, very friendly folks, eats. But this is another hiway service station and they will go E10 by mid September, just like Fields. Warning, they only have 87 AKI, no premium unleaded.)
Needles Outpost Airport, Monticello, UT (UT59) (Another private dirt strip listed on AirNav as having mogas.

Haven't found any publicly listed airports in MT, ID, NV or AZ.

It has been reported that there is an abandoned dirt strip just west of the hiway at Fields Station, may be better than landing on the hiway. The web site for Fields Station shows a C-19X fueling up, so it must have been active at one time : http://fieldsoregon.com/default.aspx

BTW, has anybody ever landed at Denio and gotten mogas. The station is across the street from the strip. Can you taxi over or do you have to bring gas cans?

Not that I know of. You can do it at 0OR6 Rome Service, OR because the airstrip comes right up to the back of the pump island that is on the hiway out front of the station. As long as you have an STC or your homebuilt has mogas written into the POH that you as the builder wrote. Now the service station may give you a ration about not having insurance to deliver gasoline into an airplane.

Now there is a guy that puts way too much detail in the post. One thing that was not covered is where is the fuel island or do walk down the street to bring the gas back in a bucket.

I've gotten gassed up at Denio. The airstrip and service station are on the same side of the road, and there is a bumpy taxiway to the station. The guy didn't take credit cards as of a year ago. The last time I gassed up some bozos parked cars in the taxiway after I went through to the gas pump, so I just took off the hiway. No worries.

I like Denio Junction's identifier. E 85 Sounds like Flex fuel for a car.

Well Tim, what can I say, it asked for airports that have mogas. I answered with a strip that has mogas, I did not think it was a stretch.

To be specific, there is an island approximately 52.41 feet directly west of the fob office. The island runs north and south, the north pump is the mogas pump, it is labeled as being mogas.

The pump and reel are white, the ground cable is braided and is not painted or plastic coated, it is the one to the north and is bonded to the mogas pump.

The little box on the side of the pump for the on off switch is red, it has a switch inside of it to turn the pumps on and off.

There is that more information?

How much is the mogas at Buhl?

How many feet is the island from the runway?

Buhl, ID used to have a listing in AirNav for mogas, no longer listed, however Flight-Guide still says mogas (on req).

Arco, ID had a listing in AirNav for mogas for awhile and then it disappeared. Called the airport manager last week and he said that the tank and pump are in but the city was dragging their feet ordering the fuel, and added that they drag their feet ordering 100 LL. What was really amazing was that he said his 100 LL fuel supplier had no problem with delivering mogas too. (Toto, I don't think we are in Oregon anymore.)

You know, I don't remember for sure, I think it is 0.30 over normal car pump price per gallon.

I have a key to the pump and I get a monthly invoice. Nice system if you live in the area of Buhl and can make it your normal fuel stop.

And yes as normal I was being a smart ass in my post above, Tim is one of the best posters on this board.
