Greetings and all that:
The missus and I will be arriving in Anchorage mid afternoon on July 1 for a few days in the old homeland. We've reserved a motor home and will probably head immediately for Fairbanks via the Richardson with maybe a side trip to Valdez. Then we'll take care of the obligatory relatives visit and other dumb stuff. I'll be seeing Uncle Jorgy for maybe the last time and we'll probably go hang with the QB for an afternoon. There's at least 1 of her cousins I'll slash my wrists if I have to go see. Oh well.
After that we'll head down the Parks and stop for a day or two and leave some money at The Park. Bus ride, Bears and Moose etc. I've seen all of those I ever need to but that's what she wants. I haven't ever been to the Kenai Peninsula so we're going. RV park or something and sit and stare out of our eyes. If I can find him I got a friend in Anchor Point with a boat. Maybe take a fly rod. Dunno.
So, if I turn this into a BCP eyeball meet with everyone in the state I'll catch all kinds of hell but I'm gonna be there so it sure would be nice to visit with all y'all a little. If anybody wants to meet Jorgy I could probably trick him into doing lunch at Pikes or The Pump House and we'll just take the place over. He is a great bullshitter for sure but can't see a damn thing any more. Everything points to filling every possible minute with something. I hate that but why spend all that money just to take naps in another locale anyway? More to follow as things shape up.

EB, I live about 2 minutes away from the pump house but I'd drive just about anywhere in a 1.5hr radius for a good meet-up!
Ken (akflyer) is pretty close by too.
When do you expect to be in town?

I'll start keeping a list. I'll let you know. It kinda depends on which end of the vacation we do Kenai. The 4th is probably a good family day for us in Fairbanks so I imagine we'll do that end of things first.

I am not usually over in civilization in July, but I might be through Anchorage, and if so I could probably swing down to the Kenai to meet up briefly depending on weather, etc. If you have time, I might be able to make it work.

It would be a real treat to sit in on a bull session with Jorgy. I've read his book, which was fascinating, and imagine that there might be a story or two that didn't make it into print

Hello , EB.
I would be happy to meet up with you when you get in to Fairbanks.
Let me know on your time frame if all is well we could do some flying.
I need to get a hold of CAMTOM as well. Hope the snow is gone by then.

EB,
I hope everything is still in line for your upcoming trip. Is there still discussion of a Fairbanks link up? I made it into town last Friday and would love to meet you and some other local folks.

The winner is the person with the most stories when he dies, not the most gold.

It's all shaping up for being in Fairbanks on the 5th for a family bar-b-que. I'll be there through the 9th with another party scheduled for the evening of the 9th. My intention is to hit Anchorage on the afternoon of 1st and head out for Kenai immediately. Not sure I'll get all the way to Homer. I want to spend my time at Kenai fishing. I'll head for Fairbanks on the 4th.

Hey Ken:
How's the smoke? We're in Kenai now and it's drizzly but still very nice. We've heard lots of stories about smoke and pilot cars on the Parks Highway. We won't be in Fairbanks on the 5th is for sure. I'm trying to decide about taking the Richardson up if the smoke will be lighter. Don't know, I'm very relaxed right here where I am.

I'll let you know. The owner of the park here gave us a couple of meals of halibut! Just for being good lookin'.

The smoke is not to bad, we got some rain what helped a lot.
Pilot car is still a go from what was heard on the news for a bout 15 miles going through the hills.
Let me know if you make it in to town. Have a safe trip , have fun.

Well I'm here. I've been trying to get on-line and onto the BCP site since we got here. It's finally up but I'm out of time. We have too many family bullshit gatherings while we're here. Next year I'm coming alone! I did meet up with Jorgy last night and took him to dinner. I'll try to post a picture of he and I outside Los Amigos down there off of Cushman at 28th. It was a great steak. Maybe next time. I stopped by my old haunts for Alyeska but it's all changed now. They must be handling everything differently than they were 8 years ago. Not a soul I worked with is at the South Cushman facility.
Later I hope
