Re: Alaska Bushwheel

I think I remember something about a second manufacturing facility in Alaska. A partner maybe??? I think they sell more tires up there and shipping is expensive.

My memory isn't to good. I tend to flush stuff I don't use on a regular basis. Time will tell.

About a year ago Airframes Alaska became a distributor up here. Maybe that is what you are thinking of?

There is a very cool story to how I ended up here, the new headquarters. But it will have to wait.

Re: Alaska Bushwheel

It will be interesting to see where all this ends up.

As previous posts, I have never heard anything bad about Alaskan Bushwheels products or service. That is a truly remarkable feat in itself, and speaks volumes for the quality of people AND products associated with that company. Truly a class act, and we need more of those.

Airframes AK has a good reputation as well, so hopefully good service will continue with this portion of the business.

An interesting issue will be where the tires in particular are manufactured in future.

Unless something has changed, neither UPS or FEDEX does Ground shipment to or from AK. The CHEAPEST rates with either of those outfits to or from AK is Second Day Air. And that's going to add to the cost of tires for someone. This is one reason the guys have always driven to the AK Airmens Trade Show, with a trailer full of tires......to help AK aviators some with costs.

All I can offer is best wishes to Wup and Bill in whatever their future endeavors bring. Those gents are truly a class act.

It is my understanding the the tires will be manufactured onsite, in an adjacent building to their current one.

Re: Alaska Bushwheel

The quality of people, service and work at Airframes is phenomenal...pretty sure that they'll raise the bar on any service compared to down south. Nice to see the fattys return to the north. Just sayin'.
